Quote of the Week for Fathers Day

Here’s a quote that can help with morale, productivity and overall performance.

In November of 1995, there was a lot going on for me – personally and professionally. I can’t remember exactly what I said to Dad on the phone one night but a few days later, an envelope came in the mail. In it was a page from Better Homes and Gardens magazine, folded three times to show an article Read more

Quote of the Week: On Meetings, Minutes & Hours

This one will not be popular with many leaders, but it’s a good one for those looking for ways to save time, get to goal PLUS boost morale, productivity and overall performance.

A meeting is an event where minutes are taken and hours are wasted.

Just imagine, if we could each save one hour per week that is currently lost in unproductive meetings.  Just one hour.  A total of 52 hours  per year.  More than  two full days.

Quote of the Week: The Way You Talk to Yourself

April 11, 2011 · Filed Under 2 Little Time, Be a Better Manager, Get 2 Goal, Quote of the Week · Comment

Many of us complain about the mean, insensitive things our colleagues say to us.   No wonder morale and productivity are in the dumpster, right?    Engagement?  What a joke!    On a serious note, how often do you stop and listen to yourself?

Quote: If a friend talked to you the way you sometimes talk to yourself...

Listen to yourself this week.   Keep a Wordpad or real pad list of the mean, critical, judgmental things you say to yourself.  You may be shocked at how hard you are on you.

What to do if you have a really long list? Read more

RoboForm: Learn more...

Too many passwords.  Not enough memory.  Enough to drive anyone crazy.

The other day,  Bill Bunch and I were comparing notes about how our password vaults had changed our lives.  May sound dramatic – but we were both serious.

9 Ways to Do Less & Get More Done

The Get-It-Done Guy's 9 Step Guide to Do Less & Get More Done

Heard an interview with Stever Robbins, the Get-It-Done Guy, who came out with this new book.  Two tips I loved:

1.  Beat procrastination by speed-dating  your tasks.  He says, “You can face anything if it’s just for three minutes.”  So he suggests scheduling small, finite periods of time for those tasks that seem too overwhelming to get started on.    And set a timer!

2.  For small decisions…instead of wasting time on the back and forth hashing that  many of us do…flip a coin.  You can always re-flip it!

I plan to read it.  Didn’t even have to flip a coin to decide!

Want to join me?  Get it from your local bookstore.  Or if you don’t have time for a speed date with the bookstore, just click on the book to order from Barnes & Noble.
