Thursday Matinée – Knock the cover off!

baseball-playerEver heard the expression:  “knock the cover off”?

Today’s matinée is a clip from The Natural – the part where Hobbs (Robert Redford) does just that.

According to a snippet in Spirit Magazine, Rawlings engineer Kathy Smith, said that  “the likelihood of the crack of a bat popping the leather top off a baseball – a la Robert Redford in the movie The Natural – is slim, if not nil.”

Even so, it’s a fun, meaningful metaphor – a great way to cheer people on to peak morale and productivity – especially right before they are going up to bat.

Get the popcorn and gather everyone around.     Before you do that though,   grab a bag of mini (or not so mini) Baby Ruth  bars.  When the movie is over, give each of the viewers a candy bar with the instruction to “keep swinging”!

Remember this video down the road – when you might not feel like doing what you need to do to be a  pro!

baby ruthMeanwhile – go enjoy that Baby Ruth and put the extra energy to knock the cover off.
